The goal of “The Brush Off” is to highlight and encourage emerging artists while bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s and the significance that art -based activities can play in the lives of people living with Alzheimer’s. We not only use this as vehicle to raise funds for those art projects but to better inform and talk with people about the disease and how the two worlds intertwine.
This year we were thrilled to partner with the accounting firm PSB Boisjoli and RBC as co-sponsors for evening's VIP Opening Night Fundraiser & Cocktail.

The funds raised this year went to CHSLD VIGI REINE ELIZABETH in NDG, Montreal. The CHSLD’s music and art therapy programs are funded by their volunteer association and the support of fundraising projects like “The Brush Off’. Their art and social activities are a large part of what makes their residence/community a very welcoming and calming environment for those living there as well as a comfortable place for visitors and families.
“Family” & “Community” feed into the type of society we create and nourish. We don’t have to do a lot to make a difference but we really all should do something when we can. It helps others but it is amazing how it feeds your own soul.
As always, we are very grateful to all the artists who submitted work, to our wonderful Judges; Andrew Carter morning man for CJAD 800, Bill Brownstein, columnist with The Montreal Gazette, Dorota Kosinska, international writer, editor and art critic based in Montreal, to the Prize Sponsors; Condo Le Silhouette, The Travelway Group, AvenueArt.ca & to other contributors and sponsors such as; Chef Jason Nagy, Quartz Vodka, and of course to our communication partner, Mark Shalhoub Communications as well as to my catering partner Ursula Kobel and her team. But most of all, I would like to thank the guests/supporters for attending and making this 5th year another wonderful experience for all.
Although all the art entries were special and unique in their own manner and there was a prize for 1st and 2nd place, it is always the “People’s Choice” award that engages the audience and brings on much discussion.
This year’s “PEOPLE’S CHOICE” went to
Louis-Bernard St-Jean’s work titled: “Rhapsody in Blue”
Congratulations to the artists once again and we look forward to seeing you next year.
